ZenCart is a full-featured shopping cart that provides the site owner an administrative control panel web interface. This is a password protected portion of your eCommerce website where you can login to process your sales, manage your products, and view reports. This means that you adjust the price and descriptions of your products at any time without needing to touch code or call on the services of a web designer. You can even add new products by uploading your own product photos. Here is a video example found on the internet that shows how to add new products.
The control panel also gives the merchant the ability to turn on and off your store. For example, if were to go on vacation and do not want people to be able to purchase from your store because you don't have time to ship the package, then you can "turn off" your store.
I can customize the looks and feel of the eCommerce website to any design, including any design from any purchased design template or custom design from any designer.
If you have special ecommerce functionality needs that are not found in any other shopping cart, I can customize ZenCart's core functionality to meet that need. But more often, ZenCart or its many free add-on modules will already have the feature or functonality that you need. Some common features that are available are discount codes, implemenation of sales, and free shipping over certain amounts.
ZenCart is a good choice for small businesses because it provides the features and the flexibility mentioned above at very low cost. The ZenCart software is open-source which means that it is free. We do not have to purchase the software and you do not pay any monthly fees to ZenCart. I can install this software directly on your webhost that uses PHP and MySQL database technology. Because webhosting typically costs around $7 per month. This solution provides much cost savings when comparied with hosted eCommerce solutions such as Yahoo Stores, Amazon WebStore, Network Solutions, and even eBay Stores. Furthermore, the hosted solutions are not as customizable as ZenCart is.
There are many options when it comes to implementing the payment processor used by ZenCart. The most common method that I recommend is to use PayPal Website Payment Standard with the option to integrate into a third-party shopping cart like ZenCart. The benefit of this option is that all you need as a merchant is a PayPal account and there is no PayPal setup fee nor PayPal monthly fee.
Customer interactions such as "add to cart", "view cart", "update quantity", "remove from cart", "track order", "billing address input", "shipping address input" all happens on your own website. At checkout, the final credit card input will occur on PayPal's hosted page. This is good because then you no longer have to worry about PCI compliance (Payment Card Industry) and you no longer are responsible for securing credit card data because this is all handled by PayPal. Credit card numbers are not accessible to you and they are not stored on your website or your webhost.
Another option is if you want customer credit card input to happen directly on your website. In this case, you and your server needs to be PCI compliant by purchaing SSL (secured socket layer) service from your webhost provider. You may also need to purchase a static IP address from your webhost provider. Then we can integrate Zencart with the Paypal Website Payment Pro service which Paypal charges a monthly fee for.
I also provided regular service maintenance and website updates for other Zencart websites. These sites had been designed and built by other designers, but the owners have retained me to provide maintenance service since I am able to provide the professional and expert work that they were looking for. In this case, I charge on a per hour basis and only bill you one a month. If there was no work during that month, there is no bill.
